Mira Bernabeu

Valencia, Spain, 1969.

Mira Bernabéu holds a Masters Degree of Fine Arts from Goldsmiths' College, University of London and a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Polytechnic University of Valencia.

In his photographic series developed over time, Bernabéu investigates the way in which human beings relate to one another. His photographs and installations are a stage where the protagonist is the psychological and anthropological aspect of the characters. Mira emphasizes the theatrical dissection of the family and the group portrait. In his images moral, religious and sociological values come together with psychoanalytic and educational theories. In his naked and tenebrous settings, in the form of performances and experimental theatre, the artist questions the limits of the public and the private.

Mira Bernabéu lives and works in Valencia, where since 2006 he combines his artistic practice with the direction of the Espaivisor Gallery. His work is represented in the collections of IVAM, Instituto Valenciano de Arte Contemporáneo, Valencia, Spain; CGAC, Centro Gallego de Arte Contemporáneo, Santiago de Compostela, Spain; MUSAC, Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Castilla y León, Spain; Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Álava, ARTIUM; Colección de arte contemporáneo de la Comunidad Autónoma de Madrid; University of Southern California, University Park, Los Angeles, USA and Universidad Politécnica de Valencia.
