Marcos L贸pez

Santa Fe, Argentina, 1958.
Lives and works in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

Marcos L贸pez studied engineering at the National Technological University, Buenos Aires, Argentina. In 1982 he abandoned his university studies to devote himself completely to photography. His work is the radiography of an era that recreates the ironies of the world in which we live. His images have a very personal iconography of kitsch style in which stereotypes and diversity, academicism and bad taste are mixed. His scenes give off a narrative of cinematographic language in which suspended time suggests what is going to happen next or what, practically, has just happened. His stories, "the texture of underdevelopment" (in his own words), are starred by everyday anti-heroes, whose semblants reflect the confusion, skepticism and sense of disorientation inherent in contemporary life.

Marcos L贸pez work is represented in the Daros Latin American Collection, Zurich, Switzerland; Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes, Buenos Aires, Argentina; Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sof铆a, Madrid, Spain; MUSAC, Museo de Arte Contempor谩neo de Castilla y Le贸n, Spain; Museo del Barrio, New York, United States; Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, Texas, United States; Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes. Caracas, Venezuela; Museum of Modern Art, Buenos Aires, Argentina, among others.
